This collection consists of research materials collected by Thomas B. Buell, author and retired naval officer, for his biography of Admiral Raymond A. Spruance, The Quiet Warrior, published by Little, Brown and Company in 1974.

The Anderson papers consist of career papers, correspondence, subject files, writings, and other miscellaneous items related to the military career of Bern Anderson. The majority of the materials in this collection are from the career series and the correspondence series.
