This collection consists of one logbook from the USS Macedonian during its service as a practice ship for the United States Naval Academy at Newport, RI and later in Annapolis. The log records the weather, communications with other vessels, and midshipmen activities.

Also found within this volume are accounts and notes from Robert M. Marks from Northumberland, Pennsylvania documenting his automobile business, circa 1940-1941. It is unclear as to how this volume came in his possession but appears he was simply using extra blank pages of this volume for his business accounts.

This collections consists of one letter written from Alfred T. Mahan, esteemed naval officer and historian, to Professor William W. Bailey of Brown University.

This collection consists of papers related to the family of Admiral Francis S. Low, distinguished Navy officer who graduated from the Naval War College and served during World War II. It includes two letters of thanks to Mrs. Alice Paul Requa Low from Madame Chiang Kai-shek and Genevieve de Galard. It also includes a memoir entitled "A Personal Narrative of my Association with Fleet Admiral Ernest J. King, U.S. Navy," written by Low.

The USS Macedonian was a United States Navy frigate that later served as a practice ship for the United States Naval Academy. This logbook spans from 1865 Jun 13-Sep 13 and was maintained while the Macedonian was atttached to the Naval Academy while it was located in Newport, RI during the U.S. Civil War.

A typed note to Mrs. Alice Paul Requa Low, wife of Francis Low, from Madame Chiang Kai-shek, First Lady of China, in which she tells Mrs. Low she is thinking of her.

Memoir entitled, "A Personal Narrative of my Association with Fleet Admiral Ernest J. King, U.S. Navy," by Admiral Francis S. Low, U.S. Navy (Ret.). In this memoir, Low first provided a brief biography of Admiral King before discussing his relationship with him while King was a member of the General Board in 1939, serving as his Operations Officer in the Atlantic Fleet from 1940-1941 and when King was Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Fleet and Chief of Naval Operations in early 1942, and as his Chief of Staff for the 10th Fleet in mid 1943 through late 1944.

Typescript memoir entitled "Set Condition One" by Storekeeper Morton Levine on USS San Diego during WWII. In the memoir, Levine recollects his crew's participation in many invasions and battles in the South Pacific theatre. These include the U.S. invasion and occupation of the Marshall Islands, Truk Lagoon, the Philippines, and Pearl Harbor. He also shares his longing to return home, thoughts of loneliness and desolation while at sea, and hope that the war would ensure longlasting peace.
