Biographical Note
Captain Marion H. Eppes was born in 1912 in Lineville, Alabama. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1935. He trained as a naval aviator in airships and during WWII served in USS Chester. He was navigator in USS Intrepid off the coast of Japan, 1944-1946. Eppes was on the staff of the General Line School, Newport, RI from 1947-1950, and asst. naval attache for air, Athens, Greece, 1950-1952. He was CO, Naval Station, Midway in 1954. He retired from the Navy in 1961 and earned a master's degree from the University of Maryland in 1977.

Correspondence, naval orders, subject file and miscellany, 1935-1997, comprise the collection. Most of the collection consists of personal and general correspondence, 1943-1997, with letters to his family and the Naval Airship Association. The collection includes a file on the Class of 1935, U.S. Naval Academy, booklets on the Naval Airship Association, and Eppes'certificates, awards and photographs.
