Biographical Note

Raymond G. O'Connor, professor of history, was born in 1915. He served in the U.S. Navy as an enlisted man and officer from 1935 to 1955. He received a M.A. from American University and a Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1957. He taught history at Stanford University, University of Kansas, University of Miami and as Ernest J. King Professor at the Naval War College, 1967-1968. He is the author of eleven books, including Diplomacy for Victory: FDR and Unconditional Surrender, White Hat, Blue Jacket, An American Sailor in Peace and War: and Readings in the History of American Military Policy.

O’Connor was E. J. King Professor of Naval History at the Naval War College, 1967–1968.
