Letter written by Alfred T. Mahan addressed to his daughter, Henny (Helen E. Mahan). Mahan wrote this letter while in Alexandretta, Syria and explains the ships travels to their current post and how a sailor woke him to view the morning star one day. Enclosed in this letter is a copy of a black and white ink drawing of "Tarsus, Asia Minor, (The Birthplace of St. Paul.).
