Historical Note
USS Hartford, a sloop-of-war, was first commissioned in 1859. She was a part of the East India Squadron, was David Farragut’s flagship during the Civil War, and was Stephen B. Luce’s flagship as part of the Pacific Squadron. She was decommissioned in 1926.
