Letterbook of Belknap kept during his assignments at the USNA where he was associated with the Graduate Association, 1885-1888 and as head of the Department of Applied Mechanics 1894-1896; his assignment at the Newport, RI, Torpedo Station, 1888, 1891-1894 where he developed a sound signal system and wrote reports & letters concerning gun cotton experiments; and reports & letters from service aboard USS KEARSARGE, 1888-1891.
