Scope and Contents

Doolittle discusses the reaction of Yale students to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, joining the US Army after graduation from Yale in 1942, Field Artillery unit, training to fly Piper Cubs, assigned to Pacific Theater with 43rd Division, first art New Zealand, then New Guinea and the Philippines, flying missions to locate Japanese troops, adjusting fire for the USS Pennsylvania, conditions in the Philippines, barracks, food, friendship with a Filipino family, practicing for the invasion of Japan, demilitarizing Yokosuka, and returning home.
