Hume discusses her youth, enlistment in the WAVES in 1944, training at US Naval Training School (WR), yeoman school. assigned to CO, Air Force Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk, VA, discharged in 1946; attended American University and graduated from Barnard College, worked at the CIA, joined regular Navy in 1951, Women Officers School, Newport, RI, various career assignments, including Director, Personnel, First Naval District, 1970-1971, retiring that year. Comments on naval career and opportunities for women.
